Introduction
Hello everyone! My name is AJ. On this website I will post about things I make, as well as general thoughts about things I like (mostly bug related). Here is my tumblr blog!
About me and my work
Stuff I make:
- Felted bugs and other creatures
- This is the main thing that I tend to post about. I mostly make bees, butterflies, and other bugs, but I've also made other stuff like gnomes.
- Here is an example of a felted butterfly I made
- Clothing
- I mainly make dresses, skirts, and other typically feminine clothing, but I'm always looking to try new things!
- Crochet and knit items
- I've been crocheting for a little while now, and I mostly just make stuff from cool patterns I find online (I'm not quite able to make my own crochet patterns yet).
- I've only recently started knitting and it still needs... a lot of work.
- Beaded jewelry
- I like to combine 2D and 3D beading techniques in the jewelry I make.
My interests:
- Animated shows and movies
- I'm mostly into 2D animated movies, because I'm not really into the "realistic" 3D animation style. However, I do like 3D animations that do interesting things with their art style. For example, I really enjoy the recent trend of making 3D animation look painted or hand-drawn (The new Puss in Boots movie is a good example)
- Animal xenofiction
- I like pretty much any story that has anthropomorphic animals. I'm a big fan of Watership Down and I have a soft spot for stories about mice, such as Brambly Hedge.
- Bugs
- I really love insects as well as bugs in general (my definition of a "bug" is kinda loose). My favorites are bees, snails, wasps, and especially butterflies. I've had a butterfly obsession since I was a baby and they are by far my favorite animal. My favorite butterfly is a malachite butterfly because of how sweet and friendly they are.
- Crafts
- See previous section for a list of crafts I'm interested in.
A word about patterns I post:
- I make my own patterns for many of the things I made. My plan is to post most, if not all of them, on this website, so that people can use them for free
- Feel free to sell any items that you make from my patterns! My only requirement is that you do not sell items on a large commercial scale (usually this is defined as selling >250 units per year)
- Credit is appreciated if you use my patterns to make items!
- This is, of course, not meant to be some sort of requirement, but I would love to see pictures of items made from my patterns if you would like to share!
